Design and diagnostics of pavements
A highly regarded workplace in the field of transport structures, recognised by contractors, investors, construction supervisors and state authorities.
Tests performed
In the field of diagnostics, the workplaces of VUIS – CESTY, spol. s r. o. are equipped to perform the following tests:
- static load test
- dynamic bearing capacity test with a light dynamic plate
- determination of bulk density with a volumeter
- pull-off tests of waterproofing systems on bridges
- visual inspections of flexible (asphalt) pavements
- visual inspections of rigid (cement concrete) pavements
Instrumentation
The company has a KUAB FWD deflectometer for bearing capacity measurement. In 2012, the laboratory equipment was extended with a device for measuring the fatigue (STN EN 12697-24) and stiffness (STN EN 12697-26) of asphalt mixtures using the four-point method. In pavement diagnostics, the company works closely with the Road Databank.
Achieving and maintaining expertise in diagnostics and testing requires systematic upgrading of the workplace instrumentation and continuous training of laboratory staff. Fully functional, regularly calibrated instruments complying with applicable standards are an essential condition for granting accreditation to a testing laboratory, as are qualified and experienced staff.
